Associate Director of Annual Giving, Young Alumni Liaison

Haverford College seeks to hire a full time, exempt (37.5 hours per week), benefit eligible Associate Director of Annual Giving, Young Alumni Liaison. By developing and managing a comprehensive lifecycle-based program plan for the Haverford's young alumni community, the Associate Director will create and implement fundraising strategies to secure philanthropic support for the annual giving program and other College priorities.
In support of this goal, the Associate Director will design and execute programming to strengthen engagement ? in person and virtually ? within the context of the alumni lifecycle.
Essential Functions & Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive young alumni program that advances Haverford's role as a top philanthropic choice for alumni during the first ten years after graduation. This lifecycle-based program will creatively engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and future donors.
Partnering with members of the Annual Giving team to influence and manage the overall Annual Giving strategy and appeals throughout the year for the young alumni constituency, including a large-scale fall giving challenge,
Partnering with members of the Alumni and Parent Relations team to create engagement opportunities throughout the year,
Recruiting, training, and managing young alumni leadership volunteers (the Vice Chair for Young Alumni Giving, Giving Advocates, and the Young Alumni Advisory Group) to help achieve engagement and fundraising goals.
Manage a caseload of 75-100 Young Alumni prospects in order to cultivate, solicit, and steward annual gifts.
Visiting with young alumni individually and in groups to discuss how they can be involved in the life of the College, the importance of philanthropy, and to solicit gifts. Understand that the Associate Director will be one of the first people to initiate in-depth conversations about the role of philanthropy at Haverford to help young alumni come to a better understanding of their own philanthropic goals, and
Working to increase the number of young alumni members of The 1833 Society and the Sharpless Society.
Work with the volunteer Young Alumni Liaison to the Alumni Association Executive Committee (AAEC) in overseeing the Young Alumni Advisory Group (YAAG) through:
Managing 15-20 volunteers representing each young alumni class (1-10 years out) on special projects, young alumni driven initiatives, and fundraising efforts
Educating and activating volunteers on College issues, resolutions, and opportunities so they are trained to be knowledgeable advocates for Haverford among the young alumni constituency
Managing volunteer projects throughout the year and serving as point-of-contact for YA Liaison and all YAAG members
Partnering with Advancement Services and YAAG volunteers to keep our young alumni data current, with particular emphasis on home addresses/cell phones/emails, employment and graduate school information, and other notable accomplishments.
Holding an annual meeting on campus (held in conjunction with an AAEC meeting), 2 conference calls a year, and providing monthly email reports on the Young Alumni Program and College happenings
Attending three Alumni Association Executive Committee meetings (typically held on campus in October, February, and May)
Manage the 5th, 10th, and 15th (FY19 pilot) reunion planning committees by:
Forming large and active reunion volunteer committees as much as 8-12 mos. prior to reunion,
Setting and achieving aggressive dollar and participation goals for reunion classes,
Holding in-person or virtual peer reviews with fundraising volunteers,
Training volunteers on existing resources and best practices to be comfortable advocates of the College regarding reunion fundraising efforts and social planning work,
Sharing in the effort to achieve the Alumni Weekend attendance goal, and
Serving as the College's liaison to all committee-based social planning activities (and encouraging lifecycle-based programming) that may exist for panels, the yearbook, memorial services, etc.
Design an innovative social media strategy annually, in partnership with College Communications, to bolster engagement and fundraising for all alumni and specifically targeting young alumni. Connect current students and young alumni with the College through various social media vehicles including but not limited to Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook. Oversee execution of postings by student interns, the APR Admin Assistant and other colleagues as required.
Other responsibilities as assigned, in accordance with goals of Institutional Advancement.
Education, Training, & Experience:
Bachelors' degree required.
Two to three years of development experience and/or direct solicitation experience required.
Understanding of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations programs preferred.
Ability to discuss the importance of philanthropy in higher education and the global community.
Travel required (including overnights) and possession of a valid U.S. driver's license required.
Late night and weekend work required.
Familiarity with a liberal arts setting, as well as Haverford's mission and priorities is favored.
Must be able to think strategically and be deadline driven.
Must be able to handle confidential materials and situations with sensitivity and discretion.
Must be able to carry out multiple activities/projects concurrently.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
